And the last train ran to a timetable that is no more, to stations that are no more. — Chronicle of the Ruins 7:1
The last evening train never reached the terminus. It rolls along the hall's rails and is nearly invulnerable while moving; levers stand by the walls — throw a switch while its path is lit and it crashes into a dead end.
There is no terminus. The train was taking people home the evening the bright ones came; some were taken straight from the carriages, and the rest ride on to this day: no hour is written for them, and they cannot get off. The driver calls out the stations because there is no one left to say they have arrived.
Phases
I · On Schedule — from the start. II · Express — from 60% health. III · Off the Rails — from 25%.
Switches and armour
Armour lets 15% of damage through. Throw a lever up close or shoot it. Derailed in a dead end, it is defenceless for 5 s: hits land in full.
Throw the switch, and the proud way shall end in a dead end.
Whistle and run
It whistles for 1.5 s — the path lights up. It rushes past at 19 m/s, as an express 24: 34 and a push, too tall to jump. Get off the path.
When thou hearest the whistle, depart from the way.
Boiler
The firebox maw opens: a 55° cone over 9.5 m, 9 every 0.25 s. Jumping won't help — go round the side.
The firebox breatheth fire before it; go round the side.
Rooftop volley
Raiders on the cars aim for 0.9 s and fire 3 pellets in a fan, 7 each.
From the roofs shoot they that missed their stop.
Passengers
3 possessed jump off the roofs, as an express 4, on your side.
The passengers alight toward thee; meet them.
Off the rails
In the third phase it tears across the hall: the line freezes 0.45 s ahead, the ram runs at 21 m/s — 40, leaving a fire trail of 14 per second. Hits a wall — stunned.
Off the rails it rusheth straight, and dasheth against the wall.
Loop
It lays a 5 m circle, the cars lashing everything on it — 30. The circle burns for the whole windup: get inside or out.
The circle burneth all the windup; stand within or without, but not upon it.
